St. Louis County Demolition Bill #377
Date 2/18/2011
Contrary to our belief that the Substitute version of the bill covers all property, including residential, we have been made aware that since the bill is rooted in the International Building Code, it applies to everything EXCEPT one- and two-family dwellings and multi-family dwellings up to three stories high. Residential property is NOT included. So, we are back to the original concept of Commercial only.
Chair of the Council, Steve Stenger, has scheduled a hearing in the Public Improvement Committee about this bill for next Tuesday at 5 pm, prior to the regular Council meeting. This will be an opportunity for anyone who would like to make a comment to do so.
If you would like to attend the meeting and comment publicly, please let me know. We would like to have as many people there as possible who can speak to how this new requirement will affect them and their businesses. If you can let me know by the end of the week what your talking points are, I would appreciate the chance to try and coordinate our speakers.
I have attached the latest version of the bill which was distributed yesterday. The substitute was not officially introduced yet. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thank you all for your continued input on this matter-
